California has the worst-ranked literacy rate in the nation, despite some of the best funded schools. Our children are falling behind as curriculum has shifted away from reading, writing, math, and science. Well-intentioned COVID policies have set our students back both academically and in social development. School districts are not held accountable for student outcomes.

When elected, I will:

  • Propose legislation that increases accountability for school districts that fail to successfully instruct students in math, reading, writing, and science.

  • Support the creation of additional charter schools.

  • Propose legislation to mandate curriculum more focused on reading, writing, math, and science, and less on social issues.

  • Advocate for a school voucher program that gives parents and students credits to go to a private school of their choosing, especially if their public school is underperforming.
